Visas Extensions:
If you would like to extend your stay beyond the authorized time,
we recommend that you do so through a local travel agent, who for
a small fee, will process the entire application. The procedure
takes approximately 4 days so plan accordingly. Extending your visa,
by way of the Immigration Department, is much like changing your
money at the bank. Expect to spend plenty of time, possibly all
day or more, filling out countless forms. The money saved, if any,
is hardly worth the time you will lose in the process. Another way
is to leave the country for 48 hours (to either Panama or Nicaragua)
and then come back with a new Visa.
It is always recommended to make a photocopy of your passport and
travel with the copy, leaving your original in a safer location,
since you will need to show it in several occasions: money changing,
hotel check in, along with your driving license, etc.
Law enforcement officials have no legal right to give you a ticket
for driving without a passport.
