JOSE is Costa Rica's capital city and largest metropolitan

Theaters and art
Theater lovers can visit the National Theater
(Teatro Nacional). It is the foundation stone of Costa Rica's
arts and culture. This monumental building was built out of
a necessity; the need of the Costa Rican people to have a
home to their artistic and cultural activities.

At the end of the 19th
century Belgium architects designed the outstanding building,
they later on supervised the construction work, while painters
and decorators where brought from France and Italy. The floors
where laid with Italian marble.

Museums and other activities
Museum goers can feed their minds and soul in
the National Museum and the Jade Museum. You can learn about
the origins of the Pre-Colombian Gold at the local Gold Museum.
The National Open Zoo at the northern part
of Barrio Amon offers a quick look at what Costa Rica has
to offer; the richness of the animal world and the fauna and
flora diversity. The Zoo is highly recommended for families
and groups.

Escazu, a new suburb of SAN
JOSE is emerging as a favorite neighborhood for entertainment
purposes. It is a more upscale night scene and there are many
renowned RESTAURANT
in Escazu.
Tourists usually stay in SAN
JOSE one night on their arrival to Costa Rica and one
night before their departure from Costa Rica. Between visits
to the Caribbean Ocean or the Pacific Ocean a short stop is
