Puerto Jimenez

Puerto Jimenez, across the Golfo Dulce from Golfito, is the jumping-off place for exceptional natural history/adventure destinations. The Osa Conservation Area has an office here to help you with visits to Corcovado National Park. South of town toward the tip of the peninsula are private nature reserves well worth a visit.

You'll find small, modest hotels in town as well as restaurants and tour businesses. While the big attractions are further along the southern end of the peninsula, if you need a place to stay in Puerto Jimenez try friendly 10-room Hotel Manglares, telephone/fax (506) 735-5002;
It has a restaurant, thatched rancho with hammocks, and pleasant gardens. Boat trips in the gulf and Corcovado and Cano Island tours arranged.

Getting There
By bus: San Jose-Puerto Jimenez bus, twice daily.

By car: Take the Inter-American south through San Isidro de El General and Palmar Norte; turn west at Chacarita (north of Golfito) and go around the gulf to Puerto Jim6nez.
