On the 8th of January the hotel Poas Volcano Lodge was severely damaged by a Earthquake of 7.2. But by great good fortune, the damage was just material. The time of the quake was fortunate as there were no guests in the Lodge. After much deliberation and professional advice, we have decided to go ahead with the reconstruction of the principal house, expecting to open the Lodge with all its services next as a boutique hotel later in the year.

 We are conscious that the area is only just recovering, but its beauty is undiminished, Poas Volcano National Park is open, and there are local services such as Caciquita Restaurant, Restaurant Colbert, the Esquina del Sabor Store which are open. Vara Blanca is a village which is determined to restore itself, and we are part of that process, and we hope our friends and clients would wish to be part of that vision. We have already received “walk-ins”, who have been impressed by the damage caused by an earthquake and the process of reconstruction. We offer a tour of the area to witness the effects of the earthquake and how the community is coping.

The area of  Poasito, has shops and restaurants which are open for business. Volcan Poas National Park is open from 8 am to 3 pm. La Paz Waterfall Gardens  is open from 8 am to 5 pm ,the road to the El Angel Waterfall is best avoided for the time being.

OUR SOLUTION
Meanwhile we will combine our assets with Caciquita Lodge in Vara Blanca., the property of my daughter Emily, to offer a service of hospitality and food. Breakfast will be offered at the Lodge. Lunch and dinner are offered at Caciquita Lodge, which has a restaurant, bar and a wonderful view of the volcano and the area of  Vara Blanca.

SERVICES AND INSTALLATIONS
Poas Volcano Lodge has four junior suite rooms in good and comfortable condition, with one double, one single bed and one rollway bed, for four people. We offer tours, internet, transfer, bar and laundry service, and the use of our 300 acre dairy farm, for recreation.  There are walks passing through areas of tropical forest.
ROOM RATES
The tariffs for the rooms for from 1st July until November will be as follows.

Master Suites when available US$200 plus US$50 extra person, plus tax
Junior Suites US$100 plus US$20 per extra person, niños  $10 -$15  plus tax
Standard room double US$ 85 plus tax.
