Pipas the water of Costa RicaFresh coconut meat (coco) can be found at fruit stands downtown. Pipas or green coconuts are popular with Ticos on hot days at the beach. They are sold whole, with a straw stuck through a hole in the outer shell so that the coconut water can be drunk. The Pipas are excellent for the kidney. he best way to get coconut meat out of its shell is to hack it open with a machete or a hammer and then heat the shells on top of the stove in a pan. This makes the meat shrink a little bit so that it is easier to remove.
