Mamones are little green spheres which you can break open with your fingers or teeth, to expose a large seed covered with a layer of fruit which tastes like a peeled grape.

Mamon chino is the mamon's exotic cousin, sporting a red shell with soft spines growing all over it. It resembles a fat, round, red caterpillar and has an even larger delicious grapelike fruit inside its outrageous shell.
