COSTA RICA HOTELS & TRAVEL GUIDE

For our staring system we rely on Costa Rica’s Chamber of Tourism (ICT) and on our visits and inspections of the hotels advertised on our website.

Herein we include the general rules and standards for our staring system. We take into account service offered and quality, facilities and location. Occasionally hotels would not have some of the mentioned amenities in their star category but will get their staring for the quality of services they do offer or their excellent location.

One star - Usually in the one star category you can expect to find a small Hotel or a Bed & Breakfast that provides basic hospitality services. Clean rooms, maid services, information service for tours in the area, hot water shower, private or shared bathroom.

Two stars – 2 Star hotels typically provide, on top of the one star category, a basic restaurant with breakfast lunch and dinner (breakfast will usually be included in the room rate), swimming pool, Information desk and private parking. Rooms will usually have an in-room safe, hot shower and private bathroom, air-condition, cable T.V, and telephone for clients use. Some 2 star hotels will have a swimming pool.

Three stars – This category includes hotels that provide all the services that a two star hotel provides. Swimming pool, Information desk and private parking, Rooms will usually have an in-room safe, hot shower and private bathroom, air-condition, cable T.V, in room telephone for local and international calls, cabinet for clothes. In addition the three star hotels would usually have authentic design for hotel and rooms, lounge area, room service, good location, full kitchen restaurant providing reasonable dinning (breakfast would usually be included).

Four stars – In the four star category we included very few hotels in each area of Costa Rica, these are hotels that were recognized by ICT (Costa Rica’s chamber of tourism) and by us as being in the forefront in the tourism industry in Costa Rica. The four star hotels standout from the pack for their exceptional service, hotel architecture and room design. Offering luxurious accommodation the four star hotels usually have one or more restaurants, a few swimming pools, outdoor Jacuzzi and some rooms have in-room Jacuzzi, private parking, concierge services, shuttle and taxi services proper for the hotel, wireless internet throughout the hotel’s grounds, 24/7 room service, tennis courts, gym, one or more bars, business center with desktops and laptop decks photocopy and printer machines for the use of clients, outdoor sports equipment, such as sea kayaks, volley balls and surf boards for free for the use of clients. Some hotels have a library and a lounge where clients can read, play a game of pool and relax.

Room amenities include in-room safe, hot shower and private bathroom, air-condition, and cable T.V, in room telephone for local and international calls, internet connection for laptop, cabinet for clothes, hair dryer, mini bar.

Five Star -In the five star category we included only a handful of hotels in all of Costa Rica, these are hotels that were recognized by ICT (Costa Rica’s chamber of tourism) and by us as offering the top services in the tourism industry in Costa Rica. Five star hotels offer opulent environment for your vacation; in these hotels you will find the best rooms, gourmet restaurants of the highest class with world famous chefs, gorgeous architecture and room décor, in room unique furnishings, golf courses, tennis courts and the highest levels of client’s services available in Costa Rica. Five star hotels usually have 2 or more restaurants and 2 or more bars, carefully designed swimming pools, outdoor Jacuzzi and some rooms have in-room Jacuzzi, private parking, concierge services, shuttle and taxi services proper for the hotel, wireless internet throughout the hotel’s grounds, 24/7 room service, tennis courts, gym, sauna, Jacuzzi, business center with desktops and laptop decks photocopy and printer machines for the use of clients, hair dresser saloon, spa, gift shops, outdoor sports equipment, such as sea kayaks, volley balls and surf boards free for the use of clients.
