Hotel Description
Hotel Belmar was one of the pioneers in the tourism development of the Monteverde area. In the early 1980s there were only two Quaker pensions and a small hotel. Hotel Belmar started in 1985 with its first building (the Chalet) as a family style Guest House where its owners lived. Hotel Belmar was started by a Costa Rican-Chilean couple who came to Monteverde after living for many years in Europe. The Austrian Chalet architecture came from their memories of time spent in Austria. The second building, the Main Building, was built in 1991 because of the growth and demand of tourism, but always under the same concept of a small, family business in harmony with nature. Nowadays, Hotyel Belmar is still managed by its owners and their children.

Hotel Belmar is owned and operated by the Belmar family. It is a typical mountain hotel, consisting of two Austrian Chalet style buildings with wood paneling and French doors. We, at Belmar Hotel offer spectacular views and personalized service in a comfortable, rustic, atmosphere combined with the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Hotel Belmar's philosophy is centered in nature, delicious and nutritional meals. In appreciation of Costa Rica?s natural heritage, meals are homemade (bread, granola, marmalade) with ingredients produced within the country, most locally (dairy products, coffee, fruits, and vegetables). Hotel Belmar decoration features works of Costa Rican artists, handcrafters, and photographers. |
