Hotel Description
At Hotel Poco a Poco in Monteverde we offer economic lodging options and high quality services, very close to Monteverde national park in the real Costa Rican rain forest.
At the end of the year 2000, circumstances lead a Costa Rican family to make one of the most important decisions of their lives. They were in the middle of the construction work of their house, but had to change plans and the idea to convert the house into a small hotel came out. Remodeling began, and after a lot of hard work and study, the result is a very cozy atmosphere.
The hotel Poco a Poco is conveniently located just 10 minutes from one of the famous cloud forests of the world; the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.
We thank God for the circumstances that made us take this decision?. Now we know dreams come true and all our efforts have been absolutely worth it.

Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve:
This is a Private non-profit reserve, run by the Tropical Science Center. You can find 6 distinct ecological zones in this reserve. Because of its altitude, it is called a cloud forest rather than a rain forest; you will see the clouds going through the forest. The canopy is extremely rich with birds, insects, butterflies and plants,? great bird watching?, the Resplendent Quetzal is usually seen. Wear warm clothing.
Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve :
It is dedicated to nature conservation; eco-tourism and all proceeds go to the improvement of regional education. It offers beautiful views of the Arenal volcano on clear days. It has similar habitat and wildlife to the Monteverde Reserve, but is a little cloudier and wetter because of higher elevation.
You can visit the Herpentarium in which you can admire over 20 species of frogs and other amphibians, enjoy a tour at the Cheese Factorygo or a canopy tour, try the Suspension Bridges Tour (8 bridges located across a 2 mile trail, the altitude of the bridges oscillates between 60 and 240 feet above ground). You can visit the Butterfly Project of Monteverde which consists of 4 gardens, 3 greenhouses, a gift shop and botanical gardens.
In addition you can visit the Serpentarium or go for a horseback riding tour. All in all there is plenty to do and to learn in the Monteverde-Santa Elena area.
