The Balmoral Hotel in San Jose Costa Rica is an intricate piece of Costa Rican history. The Balmoral Hotel in San Jose Costa Rica has seen and passed the test of time through the last 50 years, let us not forget that this is one of the first hotels that was opened in San Jose . Of course, in those days it was far from the city it is now. When Manuel Lacayo Teran, our founder, envisioned the great hotel that his business resulted to be, San Jose was not much of a city at all, it was basically narrow "streets" designed for cattle, one or two competitors, and a handful of businesses belonging to the prominent families of the era. And it is precisely this that makes Costa Rica so tasty to the foreigners, when here, you feel like you are at home, the costarricans are in many ways one large family, and while here, so are our guests. The Balmoral still stands tall in the middle of San Jose , the city has grown with it, and we still conserve the Lacayo family tradition of hospitality and warmth.
