Guacamaya is a friendly, feel-at-home haven of peaceful cabinas around a large pool overlooking the magic blue of the Pacific. The Bar and Restaurant also offer a luscious view of every night's perfect sunset (the green flash is possible.) Your peaceful relaxation will be ever so slightly "disturbed" only by a wonderful variety of tropical birds, our local group of monkeys from the mangroves or the pounding surf of Playa Junquillal.

Your Swiss hosts, Bernie and Alice, welcome you in their native Swiss or fluent Spanish, English or German, or acceptable French, Italian or Portuguese. The brother and sister duo have designed an intimate atmosphere at the Guacamaya Lodge that allows their guests to get to know each other and the staff.

The international clientele creates a unique opportunity to strike up new friendships in this tropical paradise, with guests from all over the world.   • Surf Fishing - The four-kilometer Playa Junquillal offers a variety of opportunities from casting off sandy beaches to chasing the tide along the rocky points with bait or lures. Also, at the sandy end of Playa Junquillal is the Andemojo estuary where the delicious Snook are lurking.

WATER SPORTS

  • Swimming & Boogie Boarding - The center of Playa Junquillal has waves just perfect for boogie boarding and at the north end of Playa Junquillal is a beautiful almost private white sand beach just waiting for sunbathers needing a dip.
  • Surfing - The Guacamaya Lodge is located next to the best and most exciting surfing beaches available in Costa Rica; Playa Negra and Playa Avellanas.
  • Snorkeling - Just south of Guacamaya Lodge is Playa Callejones, San Juanillo; a calm white sand harbor that is a dream to snorkel for both amateur and accomplished snorkelers alike. North of the lodge, on Playa Avellanas, is a tidal pool that is a treat for the youngster with his first mask or anyone who loves to see the variety of rockfish and other creatures in the sea.
