Hotel Hemingway Inn is located at the corner of Avenida 9, Calle 9, in the historic Amon district, San Jos?. Most taxi drivers are familiar with us and the orange colored taxis you see when you exit the main airport terminal at all hours of the day are your best bet.

International Airport to Hotel Hemingway Inn by car.

#1: Turn right exiting the airport. Go through the traffic light and then follow the main highway for 11 miles (18 kms.) into San Jose.

#2: When you first see traffic lights the highway will have ended, you are now in San Jose. You are currently traveling south. Turn left (east) at the 2nd traffic light onto Paseo Colon. You can identify the corner you need to turn at by looking for a gas station and the Banco Nacional on the left side and a large park lined with tall trees on the right hand side.

#3: Continue up Paseo Colon (east) eight (8) traffic lights. At the 8th traffic light, Paseo Colon narrows from 4 lanes down to 2 lanes. Try to be in the right hand land. At the corner make a right hand turn (south again) and be prepared to quickly make a left turn (east again) at the next corner by the park.

#4: Just in front of you is a park. Make the left hand turn in front of the park up the small hill. This is Avenida 2. A large church (La Merced) is now on the right. Continue up Avenida 2 (east) nine (9) traffic lights. At the 5th traffic light you will pass San Jose's Central Park (Parque Central) and the National Cathedral on the right. At this point, start moving towards the left hand lane in preparation for a left turn just past the National Theater, which is located on the left between the 8th and 9th traffic lights.

#5: Just as you pass the National Theater, make a left hand turn onto Calle 5. You will immediately pass a Taco Bell and a Burger King on the right. Continue straight up this street four (4) traffic lights.

#6: At the 4th traffic light, make a right hand turn onto Avenida 7. Continue up Avenida 7 (east) for two (2) traffic lights. You will need to be in the left hand lane.

#7: Just as you are about to enter the intersection of the 2nd traffic light on Avenida 7, make a left hand turn at the corner of the blue building, onto Calle 9, just before the large tall building. Hotel Hemingway Inn is on the very next corner, Calle 9 and Avenida 9, on the Right hand side.

Public Transportation to Hotel Hemingway Inn

Just outside the Arriving Passenger Terminal, orange colored Airport Taxis are lined up to deliver passengers to their final destinations. These taxis are licensed by the Costa Rican Tourist Board. There is a set price of $12 from the airport to Hotel Don Carlos. This is a price for the taxi regardless if you are one two or three persons.
