Volcano Lodge is located on the side of the road that connects La Fortuna de San Carlos with the Arenal Lake, with direct view of the Arenal Volcano, a World-famous volcano.
The impressive views from the Volcano Lodge include not only the volcano, but also the western area of the spectacular Braulio Carillo National Park as well as the Caribbean plains. Poas Volcano Lodge is just a few meters from the nearest protected subtropical rain forest area, through which a network of trails have been designed for visitors to explore.

| The lodge comprises of eleven charming and comfortable bedrooms, including a luxurious master suite with a sunken stone bathtub. The rooms have ensuite bathrooms and some accommodate more than two people. They are situated in groups both within and around the impressive farmhouse and have a luxury rustic flavour with stone walls, wood panelling, soft lighting and sumptious beds. They each have private access to the garden which affords an impressive view to the volcano, and most are within a few metres of the rainforest surrounding the lodge. |

Woodland and farmland walks inside El Cortijo farm take up to 4 hours, magnificent trees, much bio-diversity and good bird-watching.
Volcano Poas is one of the biggest active craters in the world. At an altitude of 2704m, the volcano is one of the few to allow visitors to walk right up to the rim of the crater to feast one's eyes on an extraordinary view. Within the crater there is a sulfuric pool emitting gases and reaching a temperature of 96? centigrade. The Lago Botos can be reached by a connecting trail to the volcano.
Nature Park & Wildlife Refuge Guests will be amazed by the variety of climates and experiences that the Waterfall Gardens contain including both Cloud and Rain Forests. Five magnificent waterfalls with nine viewing platforms allowing visitors a close and personal view of the falls and the spectacular La Paz River. There are four self-guided trails in order for all the visitors to enjoy the walks in their own time and at a personal pace. However, upon request guides can be arranged for those interested in a more detailed tour.
Besides the impressive nature experience, Waterfall Gardens also offers one of the largest Butterfly Observatories in the world. This enclosed structure allows butterflies to soar freely and at the same time guests can wonder through this habitat admiring the different varieties of species to be found here, bred in the on-site laboratory. There is a hummingbird garden with 26 different species of birds flitting around you as you sit in the garden to admire then.

Our stay at the Poas Volcano Lodge was a favourite part of our entire
visit to Costa Rica. The countryside where the Lodge is located is
spectacular and we wished we had planned on a longer visit. We did
not expect to find that there were so many different things to
do. We enjoyed the short hikes we took around the Lodge but realized
that there are many more hikes we would have enjoyed if we had an
extra day or two more. The rooms we stayed in were charming and
comfortable. The breakfast spread and service were awesome. Our
party of 12 thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Poas Volcano.
We highly recommend the Poas Volcano Lodge as a place to relax and
enjoy nature at its best.
