Tropical room -
Each Tropical room and Tropical Grande, highlighting a local beach, has an original hand painted mural, and a large, comfortable bed. They are equipped with ceiling fans, air conditioning, and a private bath with hot water.
Every room opens to a patio with a hammock, for reading, rest or just a lazy way to enjoy the tropical landscape right at your fingertips. Your private corner of the tropics is made for personalized relaxation.
The family suite -
Pasatiempo Hotel has recently expanded its oasis with two one-bedroom suites designed for spaciousness and tranquility. These suites have the same amenities as the bungalows and offer a built-in queen size bed in the separate bedroom and two single beds, which convert to sofas in the front room. The suites are perfect for a family.
Hotel Pasatiempo is also offering the sparkling, private pool. It is comfortably nestled in the hotel's rambling, tropical gardens. Abundant lounge chairs, hammocks and mini ranchos surrounding the pool make it easy to pass time relaxing in and out of the tropical sun.

Surfing :
Tamarindo, once a secret spot for the surfing elite, has become a world-famous destination since the filming of "Endless Summer II." Consistent swells and offshore conditions make Tamarindo one of the most sought out pacific breaks. You can surf right off of Tamarindo or you can travel a few miles to some of the more secluded beaches, Playa Langosta, Playa Grande, Playa Avellanas.
Turtle watching :
Two beaches very close to Tamarindo, Playa Grande and Playa Langosta, are protected nesting areas for the giant leatherback turtle, and are part of the national park system. These beaches are the major nesting areas worldwide for these turtles, which arrive from October to March to lay their eggs. Hotel Pasatiempo can coordinate a tour with an official guide to visit this incredible spectacle.
Snorkeling & scuba :
Discover the diverse tropical marine life of Costa Rica and a variety of Pacific scuba diving and snorkeling sites all with excellent visibility. One site is the Catalina islands, a small cluster of rocks near the southern end of the Gulf of Papagayo.
Golf :
We?re fortunate to have two great courses either of which is more than a legitimate test of any golfer. Hotel Pasatiempo has joined forces with Hacienda Pinilla to offer a special golf package to our guests of a 50% discount on a round of golf. In addition they will pick you up and deliver you back to the hotel. All you need is a decent golf game and some clubs, rental or bring your own. The course at Playa Conchal, Garra De Leon is also open to our guests and is praised by international golfers as one of the most beautiful courses they?ve ever played.
Ron Stewart, Pasatiempo's owner, is an avid golfer and can give you all the advice you'll need. And in fact he'll probably be the first to volunteer to round out your foursome.
Sailing cruise :
Sail off into the afternoon sun aboard a 52 ketch chartered by Ron and the Hotel Pasatiempo. Weather permitting, every Thursdays at about 1:30 in the afternoon the Samonique III hosts guests to a cruise over the Pacific There'll be cocktails and snorkeling if you choose, and often the dolphins, turtles and even whales join the fun. At the end of the day relax in the sunset with live music.
