From San Jose you go to Alajuela, after the airport a sign which will show the way to the volcano. Please pay attention from here on to the signposts, because, unfortunately, they are hidden among the trees that grow so fast.If you should get lost, you simply ask to 'Volcan Poas'. Do not forget to refuel, because on the way to the volcano there is almost no gas station and when you find one it is often closed. The road extends to about 30 km upward and it offers marvelous views. You go past fields with coffee growing as well as ornamental plant cultivation and will soon see locals on the side of the road selling fresh strawberries and much other lusciousness offers.
