26 Aug 2010: visit hotel's page: Los Lagos Springs Hotel, Spa & Resort Hi Paulino!
I just want to say "in writing" that Matt, Dave, and I so very much enjoyed the trip you put together for us to Arenal and Tamarindo. Many, many thanks. Our whole vacation was what we had hoped for and more. Arenal, we heard, had not erupted for the five days before we were there, and on one day while we were there it erupted 7 times, 2 at night! Los Lagos was a gorgeous place to stay and the people who work there are very welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds and hot springs pool; it was so convenient to have hot springs right where we were staying. Our superior room was very spacious and the view of Arenal couldn't have been better. One night while the boys were having some Imperials down at the wet bar, I just liked sitting on the terrace and watching Arenal, which erupted in all of its fiery glory! That certainly was an adventure. The full breakfast every morning got our day started just right and we liked all of the choices we had, including omelets prepared as-you-like it. I have the privilege to have traveled around the world, and Los Lagos stands out among the most beautiful of places.
The hike to Arenal was another adventure and Alberto was fun to have as a guide. We were impressed that he brought a telescope with him which came in handy to see monkeys and toucans that were hiding up in the trees. The hike through the rainforest was such a fun part of the day. Alberto was extremely knowledgeable and had a good eye for finding the wildlife. Later that day we explored LaFortuna and the boys will forever remember dirt biking from La Fortuna to Lake Arenal.
I can't extol enough the thrill of the sky tram, canopy tour. .

reservation (made by you) and the owner Catherine was very helpfull.
We even had a surfing lesson given at the hotel by Alfredo and that

make is that it would have been great to have oil and vinager in the
cottage to help the cooking..

01 Jun 2010: visit hotel's page: Costa Verde Dear Paulino:
Thanks for all your help and a job well done for our stay in Costa Rica at
Costa Verde. We can actually rate it a 10 on the scale. We highly
recommend this hotel as it is in the rainforest and monkeys visit your
balcony usually every morning! The 4 restaurants offered at Costa Verde are
exceptionally good as well as the service. It's just a short walk to other
restaurants as well and even on the local bus route that takes you to Manuel
Antonio National Park and Quepos. The hotel also books various tours as
well as transportation to the Quepos airport in which we took advantage of.
We thoroughly loved our vacation and even experienced an earthquake (6.2)
while we were there! Of course no damage or harm done. We can't wait to go
back again!!
Thanks once again for booking our hotel as well as arranging transportation
to Costa Verde from San Jose!!

27 Mar 2010: visit hotel's page: Barcelo Tambor Beach - All Inclusive We've just had a most enjoyable trip to Costa Rica and here are a few comments which could be of use to others.
1. Visitors should be made aware that an exit tax of $26 is payable either at the airport of a bank before leaving the country. It is strongly advised to pay this at a branch of Banco Costa Rica a day or so prior to arriving at the airport. Most flights leave early in the morning and it is extremely busy with a lot of people having to queue twice as they didn't realise you need an exit visa.
2. The airport at San Jose is about 40mins away from the capital. We can highly recommend a small hotel in the town of Alajuela 5 minures from the airport www.hotellosvolcanes.com. Excellent rooms and quality food at a reasonable price with free wireless intenet and a very hospitable owner. It's website is accurate. We stayed here twice at the beginning and end of our trip and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
3. Hotel Tropicana was run down and very basic having seen much better days. This didn't provide value for money. In fact Tamarindo itself was a let down -has suffered from the downturn in visitors and is unattractive.
We spent 3 weeks there - 1 travelling around, 1 in a condo from Homaway and one in a Barcelo Hotel in Tambor. All quite different experiences but all showing a different aspect of life in Costa Rica.
Many thanks
.

The Poas Volcano Lodge was damaged during the earthquake and has not been completely rebuilt. There is no restaurant-only a small room where they serve breakfast. The main lodge was badly damaged and there are only a few rooms open. This was the only hotel we stayed at that charged an extra fee to use the wireless internet ($5 per day using your own computer or $4 per hour to use theirs- but they really didn't want you to be in the office where their computer was). They also charge $20 per day to use their mountain bikes. The wireless signal was very weak in the dining room-the only place we could use it and it was very slow and not reliable. There are a few hiking trails but the one we went on had an electric fence we didn't know about and both my son and husband got shocked. A large part of the trail was also the cattle trail so it was very muddy, smelly and slippery. The guest rooms are Spartan and there was a large crack in the door that let bugs and the cold air in. I'm sure it will be much better once the facility is rebuilt completely but I would not recommend this hotel until it is finished. The French restaurant and Churrasco restaurant, both nearby, are excellent..

30 Mar 2009: visit hotel's page: Costa Verde We had a nice stay and thank you cupotico so much for setting it up for us.
Concerning Costa Verde. We thought the people and staff were most helpful and very friendly. They had a lot of amenities.
Costa Verde 11's structure and studio room was lovely, but with the 2 walls totally open-air, it was oppressive at times with high afternoon temperatures and high humidity. There was no relief from the temperatures until evening. The open air rooms, got a little noisy at night with other guests coming in. Everyone could hear what was going on in other rooms. It would be nice to have some glass to enclose the room and have privacy if needed.
The one pool had a beautiful view, but there were no umbrellas for shading and almost too hot to appreciated unless it was early morning or almost evening.
Thank you again and take care..

20 Jan 2009: Services provided by CUPOTICO.COM were excellent. I would recommend them to my friends or anyone else planning a trip to Costa Rica.
I want to thank you for your assistance with my trip to Costa Rica, it was a wonderful experience. I am sorry for the mixup on the date of my arrival, due to the change in flights and
very much appreciated being able to reach you on the Saturday with late notice that we would not be arriving in Liberia on the original flight, and appreciated the effort that you made to ensure we had a driver pick us up at the airport on Sunday, January 11, 2009. He was there on time waiting for our flight to arrive. As I am sure you must know we had a frightful trip from the airport to our hotel on the Sunday, with our van getting stuck in the middle of a river or washed out road. I want to assure you that this in no way reflects on the quality of the service that you provided to me, and I would highly recommend your services to anyone else who is planning to visit your beautiful country.
Nosara turned out to be a bit more remote than I had anticipated and therefore somewhat limiting as to what we could really do without staying over night in some other area. We did go horseback riding, and our friends who visit Costa Rica frequently suggested we go with Biata, and this turned out to be a perfect choice.
You have been very helpful with the planning of my trip and I sincerely appreciated it. I hope to return for another visit in the future.
The only problem that we had during our trip was the driver who picked us up at the airport did not know the correct route to Nosara and he also did not know where our Hotel was. We ended up getting lost and he eventually stopped to ask a police officer for assistance who led our driver to the hotel. The trip from the airport to the hotel took over 4 hours, however the same company provided our transportation back to the airport, they were at our hotel on time to pick us up and got us back to the airport in less then two hours. Costa Rica is a beautiful country. .

18 Dec 2008: visit hotel's page: Marriott Los Suenos This is a beautiful resort. I had the opportunity to play a couple of round s of golf and take in some of the tours during my stay. I'll never forget getting caught on one tee box for about 10 minutes while it rained for what must have been about an inch in that short time then cleared beautifully. At the next hole I had to wait not for players ahead of me but for the Anteater that crossed the fairway! I did the canopy tour which I highly recommend and did the river boat tour which was amazing. There weren't very many people there so it seemed like I had the place to myself. The hotel has a wonderful pool that seems to go on forever and the entire resort is situated right on the beach. Great people and restuarants were excellent. You won't regret the investment. Oh, I flew into San Jose and took the bus to the resort. It took about 2 hours to get there but the bus ride itself with all the views was fantastic! I will make it back one day!!!.

15 Oct 2008: visit hotel's page: Hard Rock Resort and Casino We went to Hard Rock Resort in August for the opening night of their remodeled Casino. We didn't stay to gamble but we heard they had just hired a new chef so we were very curious to try out the dinner menu. We had the special Sirloin steak with wine sauce and, I have to say, it was one of the best steaks I have ever had.The sauce was delicious and the steak very tender. They serve American cuts of beef and the chef did an excellent job. The next time we are in Jaco we will definitely come back for that steak.
While we were at the restaurant, we were treated to a spectacular lightning and thunderstorm while keeping safe and dry underneath the outdoor canopy. Talk about entertainment! We haven't stayed at the hotel overnight yet, but if the food and service in the restaurant is any indication, the hotel will be just as enjoyable..

28 Jun 2008: visit hotel's page: Beija Flor ResortOfer My husband and me came to Mal Pais without having a room reserved. We stopped by for some lunch at the restaurant (absolutely spectacular food, haven't found anything comparable in all of Costa Rica!) and ended up staying a week! Starting with the warmly designed accommodations, that are a stylish change to the typical "overdressed" hotel rooms, to the pool lounge area where even ocean lovers like us couldn't help but hang out a LOT of time, including the couple's massage at the spa and finally the ridicously good cappuchino served in the mornings - everything was great! We would like to thank the whole team for their great service - you made our stay very special and we are really hoping to get some time off work soon to come back and visit! :)

The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean, The breakfast was ezcellent, tropical fruits, eggs cooked to order, breads, rice and beans, and fresh juces, not to mention great Costa Rican coffee. We enjoyed the rooftop jacuzzi and steam room, The hotel is on a pedestrian avenue in San Jose, it is easy to walk to the various parks and museums in the area. The staff was very helpful, arranging our tours and transportation.El Presidente is very modern, with excellent security. .

19 Mar 2008: visit hotel's page: Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura I'm already booked at the Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura for three nights in early July. I've checked out all the hotel's websites in hopes of learning precisely where the hotel is located, but none of the sites provides that information. The closest I come is "five miles from the airport and close to San Jose." That is not good enough. In all other respects the websites give all the information anyone could desire. Why not a map that lets people know where the hotel is?.

13 Mar 2008: visit hotel's page: Montana de Fuego My stay at Montana del Fuego was disappointing. When we checked in one of the rooms was not correct. We reserved a triple, but they only gave us two doubles. The other issue with the hotel was the fact that both hot tubs were not working properly. The outdoor hot tub was completely out of commission, and the second one (which was located inside the spa) had only a tepid water temperature. When I complained to the management about this situation, there were horribly unhelpful. The wanted to engage in an argument with me in the hotel lobby and did little to try and rectify the situation. I would not recommend this hotel, and tell people that if they can just spend the extra money and stay at Tabacon.

10 Mar 2008: visit hotel's page: Tropico Latino The property at the Tropico Latino is lovely; it's a beautiful hotel. But my friends stayed in the cabina #11, off in the woods, and it is VERY UNSAFE. We were robbed in the middle of the night, while we were sleeping. In the morning, the staff didn't acknowledge that they need to increase security in those cabinas, so I would recommend that you request a room closer to the main lodge, or check to make sure there are a bolts on your doors, as the current lock system is insufficeient in the jungle in Santa Teresa. Tropico Latino needs to provide more security on its property. Cabina #11 was not the only cabin hit by the robbers in the middle of the night on March 8, there were other hotel guests who slept in fear that night as well. *I should note that I was actually a guest down the street at Casa Zen, which, as a hostel is very safe, but that I slept at my friends cabina on the night of the robbery because we had gone out together and I didn't feel safe walking to Casa Zen alone.

04 Mar 2008: visit hotel's page: Arenal Lodge This was a wonderful, relaxing stay. The rooms (we had to change for the second night) were really much bigger than we needed, but both had great views straight out to the volcano. The restaurant and veranda also had wonderful views, and we saw packs of wild pigs and coatis cross the open lawn below us, as well as identified dozens of birds in the garden. We ended up not even leaving the grounds the first day--just sat on the porch and walked out to the butterfly house and took the trail down along the stream under the tall trees. We were also pleased with the food and the staff in the restaurant. The tour we took the second day was expensive, but allowed us to see things we would never have seen on our own. We would go back. .

29 Feb 2008: visit hotel's page: Hotel Pine Tree The people at the Hotel Pine Tree were all very nice. The rooms are clean, but a little run down. The pool was empty and according to the staff, they had been waiting for some weeks for it to be repaired. 24 Feb 2008: visit hotel's page: La Mariposa We loved Costa Rica and enjoyed our stay there immensely. While La Mariposa is a lovely hotel, it was not my favorite. The pool was great, but service was super slow and the beach is not easily accessible. To be fair, We are beach people, more than pool people?so we are biased. Our room was super fancy and modern but not very Costa Rican...the glass wall offers a fantastic view of the ocean but no privacy. The bathroom was beautiful but not practical?no mirror or light, dark walls and the water from shower goes everywhere. Greg liked the modern take and the glass walls but he didn?t mind that your neighbors on either side can see you naked! I liked the older rooms better and the Penthouse is great. We were there for a wedding and they did an absolutely wonderful job. The food is great too!

20 Feb 2008: visit hotel's page: El Pizote Lodge I stayed here for a few days on a tour of Costa Rica with the EcoTeach educational group. It was a spring break school trip for my Science Club. I really liked this hotel. The only problem we had was that the showers flooded every time we used them. However, it was one of the few places we stayed with hot running water, so that was good enough for me. I loved the food and the chef was really nice. We also went to her private restaurant for some Caribbean flavor. The grounds are gorgeous with flowers everywhere. I loved the pool too. I caught a lizard outside our room, and there were geckos climbing all over the ceilings, which really helped minimize the mosquitoes. All in all, it was one of my favorite hotels on the trip..

23 Jan 2008: visit hotel's page: Florblanca We were very much looking forward to staying at Florblanca. I received an email about a week prior to our leaving saying that construction went over schedule and there would be a bit of construction still going on when we were going to be at Florblanca. The email stated "the construction is occurring away from the main part of the resort. We will be additionally limiting working hours during your stay and much of the work being done now will be hand work rather than heavy equipment. We hope any interruption will be slight."
When we arrived, we were taken on a tour of the property....very nice property. Then we arrive at our villa. Right next to which is a big green divider where construction is occurring. I was surprised at this because they said the construction would be away from the resort. I asked what time construction started in the morning. "8 am", she replied. OK, not horrendous, I thought. I didn't want to ruin my trip before it even began.
Next morning, 6:30am we get woken up by some power tool. I called the front desk and asked them why it was starting so early. "Oh, they're not supposed to be starting until 8." And this was the same response I got for 5 days. So, 5 out of the 7 days we stayed at Florblanca, we were awoken by this racket.
They offered to pay for our dinner the last night we were there as an apology. OK. Nice enough.
We get back home and go over our bill and they charged us an additional $120+ for our room than what was agreed upon. I inquired about this and they said it was because the colones exchange rate. They advertise in dollars and then charge another amount in colones that doesn't equal the amount they advertise. So be careful of this.
It is a shame because we travel a lot and this hotel has a lot of potential. The location is nice (minus the construction) and the restaurant is really good.
It is a shame they don't want repeat business..

15 Jan 2008: visit hotel's page: Linda Vista Del Norte Thank you, we did have a wonderful time. In fact, we were not ready to
leave on our scheduled flight; so, we stayed two extra days. The weather
was not the normal for Dec/Jan. It was colder and more windy than what we
are used to.
We were not as impressed with Linda Vista Del Norte this time around. I
understand creepy crawlies are expected; but, our room had more than we
could withstand. We had to clean out the bugs prior to going to sleep each
night. We couldn't even enjoy sitting on our outside patio, because we
would get attacked. The room was not kept up as it was two years ago. The
walls had smashed insects all over them and the dust everywhere was just not
acceptable. We were so excited to have the Churasco(spelling ?) steak
again, as it was just out of this world two years ago; however, we were so
dissapointed this time around. It was half the size and very tough. We
will not eat that again. On a good note, the staff was a pleasure: Walter,
Marvin, Jose and the front desk person, Brian. We also enjoyed the new
pool, it was beautiful. It would have been better if the pool bar was open.

enjoyed Ramada Plaza Herradura hotel - the staff was well trained and very friendly. We enjoyed the gift shop, the restaurant, the bar and the casino. We will stay there again upon our return. Again thanks for helping make our

10 Jan 2008: visit hotel's page: Adventure Inn We were pleasantly surprised by the Adventure Inn and especially the over accommodating staff. They are great! The cleanliness and appearance was also great. The only challenges we ran into were some bad eggs (but they were very accommodating with additional substitute) and some very loud music for the breakfast (which they promptly turned down on my request).
Thank you for all of your assistance and concern.

Thank you for your attention and great service.

04 Dec 2007: visit hotel's page: Adventure Inn Loved the hotel and the staff was very nice and the location was great because it was near the airport. We had a little trouble finding it but that was mainly our fault because we didn't get directions because we were supposed to be following our friends who were in a bus with a driver and we went a different direction.
The free breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We highly recommend it and would definitely stay there again.

30 Nov 2007: visit hotel's page: La Colina At first glance the place gives you the feeling of a tree house effect. Very beautiful. But then, Lots of steps, that din't seem to bother us, however, no water pressure did!, or when there was NO water, that was worse! WE asked other guests at other Hotels if they expierenced this problem, and they always said no! So, there you have that!...The restauant has a very bland menu, scimpy portions, and we guess we expected a real Costa Rican Break fast, with sweet Breads and warm milk with our coffee, silly liitle things like that, but that never came to be. My husband and I were moved to a different room at different times, we weren't happy about that, then charged more. WE didn't get that system. The owners need to upgrade bad before the place falls on them..

27 Nov 2007: visit hotel's page: Terrazas del Pacifico The trip was great and we enjoyed the hotel. I would rate the overall
score at about a 7 - out of 10 being the best. it looks like you could
use some maintenance on the pool cabana thatched roofs and some new
paint in general - as far as looks go everything else was very nice.
One thing to note was that I almost got double charged for the room. The
gentleman working at the front desk did not seem to notice that I had
reserved the room and paid for it already on line with the pay-pal
system and asked me again for my credit card. I had to remind him that I
did indeed already submit my card online, and after a few minutes of
looking around in the reservation system he said "you're right. You did
pay already" so we avoided that...
Otherwise, everyone was very nice and friendly and if we only had some
good waves it would have been a 100% suceesful trip.
Pura Vida!

15 Oct 2007: visit hotel's page: Villa Caletas The service, food and room was way beyond our expectations. Great job by all your staff with the exception of those invloved at the front desk. We booked a taxi to San Jose and we met the driver in the lobby. We talked with the reception staff to get directions and were on our way. The taxi was disgusting and the driver got lost. He had to hail another cab and we followed him. The driver got very very angry when we handed him our receipt because he was not the driver who was supposed to pick us up. At one point we were concerned for our safety.
I am amazed someone did not notice at reception or the gate it was the wrong taxi service. .

15 Oct 2007: visit hotel's page: Hotel Ave Del Paraiso My trip went fine. I do have a couple of comments:
About the hotel: Ave del Paraiso is a lovely hotel, but after having stayed there several times in the last 5 years or so, I find that the hotel facilities and the services haven't changed much. Except for the Internet access --now better than before-- and the addition of the Cafe Kracovia --which offers a good alternative for meals-- they still manage the hotel from a book where they register everything with a pencil. Last time I went there, they didn't have any records of my reservation, which I had made with Cupo Tico well in advance, so I had to go to a different hotel (this happened at midnight, and I was travelling with a small child.) And then, small things, like the towels are still too thin (and small); they don't have a toaster in the kitchen, in spite of clients' requests, who prefers their bread toasted. The staff is very nice and helpful, though.
About Cupo Tico: By the time I checked out, Hotel del Paraiso hadn't received my payment from Cupo Tico. I do recognize that Cupo Tico makes it easy to book a room online, but it'd feel better if this diligent service were so for the whole process.
Thanks for offering the opportunity to express my opinion. .

06 Oct 2007: visit hotel's page: Hotel Las Tres Banderas My husband and I stayed at Hotel Tres Banderas for 5 weeks this summer. We LOVED our experience there and wouldn't hesitate to go back. The meals are excellent, especially if Derek is your chef. The menu has a wide variety of food, even polish, as the owner is polish. The pool was our favorite part of the hotel, it is huge, cleaned every few hours, and has nice shade to read a book, but plenty of sunny spots to tan. The day bartender was excellent, and gave us great ideas on which tours to go on, and where the local hot spots were. The owner, Andy, was very accommodating to our needs, and was very personable.
The hotel is very reasonably priced, and is a perfect location because it is right in between Quepos and the beach at Manuel Antonio. Also, it is extremely close to COSI (a spanish language school my husband attended). The rooms have hot water, cable, air conditioning and a lovely balcony. The beds are decent, as is the furniture. .

27 Sep 2007: visit hotel's page: Costa Verde Dear friends at Cupotico,
Our trip to Costa Rico was even better than we had anticipated. Very
little of the predicted rain in the afternoon; very friendly and
helpful people wherever we went. If there is one complaint it
concerns Hotel Costa Verde. The people working the front desk when
we arrived were in no way welcoming or helpful. They bordered on
rude. The attitude improved somewhat by the third day, with a much
more helpful staff the day we left. We did miss having a phone in
the room, even just to talk to someone at the desk. Having to walk
to the reception desk with even a small request or question was most
inconvenient. Other than that, the rooms were beautiful, the
cleaning staff were friendly, the restaurant was quite lovely and the
food was excellent.
The Interbus arrangements you made for us went smoothly; the driver
was courteous and the ride comfortable.
I credit the success of the trip to the friendly and extremely
helpful people at Cupotico. Astrid Herrera solved all our problems
and put our minds at ease so we could fully enjoy the trip. Thank
you again for all your help.
Sincerely

03 Aug 2007: visit hotel's page: Cabinas Los Pinos Scoring an 8.5! That's a good score from my point of view, definitely Los Pinos have beautiful gardens, a quiet environment and well taking care cabins! They are comfortable and well located, close to Santa Elena, with a good space and electrical equipment. Bad things? Well, definitely this cabins have very nice details but in the other hand there are some things that seem to be a bit too old or that need to be changed like the bathrooms furniture that out of the rest of the furniture looks a bit crappy, the microwave oven number screen was totally out and there was a coffee maker that had no coffee maker bags so it was a bit weird, the shower terminal was a bit out of shape so there where like 3 huge water flows but it would have been better to have them as a regular shower so the only thing that needs to be done is change it... No mayor issues that's for sure, guys I can give you my word that this places is beautiful and definitely will be in the top of my list for my next visit to Monteverde!

31 Jul 2007: visit hotel's page: Harbor Reef We are back from our trip to Costa Rica and had a wonderful time. Your country is beautiful.
Personally I loved the waterfall at La Fortuna the best, but the Volcanoes, and adventure sports were also a blast.
I can tell you I wasn't quite prepared for the road situation. I had been told roads were bad but didn't quite understand that many were only dirt and rock for miles, and miles with such huge holes in them the cars can only go a few miles an hour. I don't have a problem with that per se just that it made
traveling much more difficult and time consuming.
The accommodations at Harbor Reef were fine. The staff was very nice. Peole in Costa Rica in general are very nice, although again the language barrier is hard at times. I did have to brush up on my limited Spanish. I think a little more information to travelers would be good. For example, we flew out of the "airport" at Nosara. It would of been nice to know before hand that it isn't an airport, just a landing strip in the middle of a cow pasture. It was fine, the flight was actually great on Sansa, but we were a bit taken back when we drove up and saw the conditions. If we were prepared it might have been nicer.
Thank you for setting up the hotel at Harbor Reef at least that experience was easy and we did thoroughly enjoy our stay.

You have a great country. I especially want to thank Astrid and David Cyrman. Astrid was a big help in making my reservations. David and his driver were great in answering my questions and making me feel at home. David is a very intelligent and hard working man.
All of the prices seemed appropriate and I had no problems at the Hotel, the beach, the restaurants, bars, drive to the airport or with any of the people. You should be proud of a country with such great people.
I plan on returning to Costa Rica soon and I will chose Cupotico to help with the reservations.

06 Jul 2007: visit hotel's page: Doce Lunas Thank you for your hospitality. A beautiful hotel, we stayed 4 nights in June, this was my fifth trip to Costa Rica, third time surfing in Jaco and Esterillos, the landscaping and the room was beautiful. It was expensive for the area and there were several problems. First, my daughter was looking forward to using the Yoga facility with daily classes however this didn't exist. We managed to get one private class from Diana and use the yoga room which was damaged and being worked on. The floor was coming off and in the process of repair but definitly not being used. There was no restaurant, no bar, no gift shop open, no computer or internet to use, it looked like someone, not us, was using "Limewire" to download a lot of music and probably viruses along with it, we were told and they had to remove the computer to fix it. The Beach was NOT a five minute walk as you say, it is no less than 15 to 20 minutes at a fast pace.
Taxis were easy to get and not expensive, the staff was very pleasant and accomodating to us. Breakfast was delivered promptly and was very good but even when we asked for two coffees instead of one, and two milks, we always got one and they had to go back, one day we had butter the next day none, one day there was jam the other days none. Construction started at 7 AM right next to our room. If there was to be building on the pool bathrooms why give us room number one? We were the only people there for 3 of the days. Put us in a room away from the construction. Your security was very good, the taxi drivers had to pass inspection everytime they passed the gate. But I was lying outside at 3 AM by the pool ( not in the pool) and was told by security that it wasn't safe to be outside and for my safety I should go back to my room. I am sure that during the busier season or during special retreats, the place must be really fun, Though it is a beautiful property there were these above mentioned problems. Thanks for listening. Also it might be a good idea to let the guests know the approximate taxi fare to let's say Mas x Menos instead of waiting for the driver to tell you fares anywhere from 500 colones to 1200 colones, since you are making the trip 2-3 times a day. I would stay there again if there was a special yoga/meditation/surfing retreat of some kind and the hotel assured us that it was fully functioning so there would be no surprises.
Sincerest thanks for your hospitality again,
John Kaufmann

04 Jul 2007: visit hotel's page: Espadilla Hotel Just got back from my first trip to Costa Rica. Besides the beautiful country I was extremely disappointed with management and lack of customer service. I arrived with a group of colleagues looking for a summer break from teaching all year long and we didn't find that at this hotel. The property is beautiful but the staff took away the beauty. We checked in and the staff gave us a hard time during check in and in was worse when we asked for basic commodities, like an iron. Would not recommend this hotel, would have received better service at a much less expensive hotel down the road. .

24 Jun 2007: visit hotel's page: Flamingo Resort First, the pool in under construction, the webste said it was finished but that is a LIE. So, it is really loud, drills, pounding, and construction workers everywhere. Second, the sheets are too small for the beds, so your feet have to touch this bed coverlet, which didn't seem very clean. Third, when our room safe did not work, they refused to move us to a room that had a working safe. It is not a nice place and food is awful..

19 Jun 2007: visit hotel's page: Villa Caletas I enjoyed our stay up until the point we left. The cab showed up right on time. I went into the reception area with the cab driver and we spent 20 minutes with the two different staff members to get the right directions to the house we were going to in San Jose. I gave the taxi voucher to the guard at the gate as we left.
I was somewhat concerned with the disgusting condition of the cab when we got in and he drive like a maniac. He got lost in San Jose and we circled for what seemed hours. He finally stopped and asked another cab driver how to get the our destination. Finally the driver became very angry when we did not want to pay him since we paid the hotel $100 for the ride. My wife and I were very afraid he was going to become violent. As it turns out he was not the right cab but no one at Villa Caletas bothered to notice this as we prepared to leave with him. The socre of 7 is just due to this experience..

19 Jun 2007: visit hotel's page: Boyeros Hola, cupotico,
Thank you for your letter of inquiry about my vacation in Costa Rica. My
granddaughter and I had a wonderful time, in spite of the incessant rain
during our 13 days in Monteverde.
The hotel Boyeros was good. I should have asked for a ground floor room,
as there is no lift, and no-one to help an old abula get her suitcase up
a long steep flight of stairs, except my granddaughter. The Lonely
Planet guidebook described the rooms at the Hotel Boyeros as more
luxurious than we found them, but the room was certainly adequate, and
the beds were comfortable. The swimming pool is wonderful, and the pool
area very clean, tidy and well kept, and we enjoyed it very much. The
restaurant was good. The best about the hotel, and certainly this is the
most important, was the people who worked there, behind the desk and in
the restaurant. They were friendly, polite and helpful when we asked for
help, particularly in allowing us to use the front desk telephone with
our phone card when the card would not work in any of the outside public
telephones. The front desk people also exchanged money for us at the
exchange rate and took no commission, so that was very nice, too. We
only stayed there one night but I would certainly stay there again. I
would score the hotel a 9.
In San Jose we stayed at the Taylor Inn B&B for two nights at the end of
our two weeks in Costa Rica. It was very comfortable, convenient to what
we wanted to see in San Jose, and had pleasant, helpful staff. Both
evenings in San Jose we walked around the corner from Taylor Inn and had
our evening meal at the Hotel Britannia. Friday night we each had a full
dinner and it was delicious. Fresh salad and good cooked dinner,
although there was only one other person dining there. Saturday evening
we went back, although neither of us was very hungry, having eaten a
good lunch in town at the Hotel Balmoral. We were both very tired. I
asked the waiter if there was any other soup than the French Onion
listed on the menu, and he offered to make us some chicken soup. A few
minutes later we were served one of the best bowls of chicken soup I
have ever eaten, with fresh, crisp cooked vegetables and spoon sized
pieces of chicken. So cheers for the Britannia Hotel Restaurant! And
cheers for their waiter! I'd go there again, too.
The best part of the trip was 12 days in Monteverde, being students at
the Instituto Monteverde, and staying with a wonderful Tico family. Even
if the road is NEVER paved, I'd love to go back there again.
.

08 Jun 2007: visit hotel's page: Rio Perlas Rio Las Perlas is a first class hotel. The rooms are roomy and well furnished. The restaurant and bar and very nice, yet casual, with high quality meals at reasonable prices. Service is excellent.
The highlight of Rio Las Perlas is the beautiful setting in the mountains with extraordnary landscaping on the extensive grounds of the property. The property includes trout fishing lakes which are full of full of fish and offer great fishing for novices and veterans alike. The hotel also offers miles of hiking trails into the higher elevations.
Set in the Orosi Valley, Rio Las Perlas is off the beaten path, but is well worth a visit for a couple of days while in Costa Rica..

02 Jun 2007: visit hotel's page: Giardino Tropicale Our trip the Costa Rica was like a slice of Heaven, especially for my
husband who had lived in Nosara for several years back in the the late 80's
and early 90's. Once he stopped crying about all of the changes (bank,
laundry mat, phones, realators etc.) he came to realise the beauty of Nosara
still lies in the warmth and friendliness of theTico's and the beauty of the
land and ocean! Yes, you can deffently say we all enjoyed the experience!
Our stay with Marcel at the Giardine Tropicale was very nice and
comfortable. We would rate our stay an 8 on the scale of 1-10. You have
asked us for our opinionand comments of the Hotlel and I can not say enough
on how welcoming and helpful Marcel was to us. The reason I gave an 8 and
not a 10 was 2 very minor things. The hotel offers airconditioning for an
extra price(witch we did not need but surely would be glad to have available
in the summer) however, I only wish that they would offer hot water upon
request as well. I do appreciate the fact that they use solar power, but it
would be nice to offer the use of electricity when in need of a hot shower.
Also, the hotel is beautifuly constructed and lanscaped, with a wonderful
resturant upstairs and a great breakfast by the pool. We did find the pool
area very pretty, however, uninviting to use and found ourselves going
elsewhere to lounge.(maybe that is the idea!) However, I do enjoy sitting in
comfortable lounge chair around the pool after a day of fun in the sun. Not
to say the rooms were not comfortable, they were, but it is nice to kick
back other places other than your room.
I would highly recommend staying at the Giardine Tropicale to any of
my friends or family. I do have an added note. We eat anything and
everything while we were in Nosara. From deliciouse fish and chicken dinners
at the the Giardino Tropicale to spa meals at the Harmony and fantatic fish
with beans and rice at Olga's. What I do want you to pass along is that we
stayed at the Occidental in Papagio by the Liberia airport (not knowing
where to stay and forgot to ask Marcel) and both myself and my husband
became VERY ill the next morning after eating at there buffet they offered
at the Occidental. That was one looong plane ride home and we have been home
now for 3 days now and still are having to run to the bathroom.....Hindside,
we should of known better that eat at a buffet but all other resturants at
the hotel were full, so be wear!!!
Okay, I think I've said enough. Thank you again for your help with our
wonderful stay in Nosara!.

25 May 2007: visit hotel's page: Mar de Luz We had a wonderful time in Costa Rica. The Mar de Luz did a great job taking care of issues we had and corrected them as soon as they could. The workers on the grounds were fantastic. The owner Victor was a perfect gentleman and host as was his staff. As an outsider and an investment realtor for commercial properties there are improvements I would make to help save long term expenses for the hotel but overall it was a most pleasant experience. Thank you for taking care of our arrangements and I will highly recommend your agency for any further travel plans..

15 May 2007: visit hotel's page: Rio Perlas What would be reasonable prices if it truly was a 5 star resort, as claimed by them, turns out to be a waste of money for the area. While they have a beautiful location and nice natural hot springs, the accommodations and services are seriously lacking. After arriving and choosing our room, we were left to find out that there were no towels or air conditioning. They did bring towels, but no matter what the request it takes more than 30 minutes for the bellman to get to you. After dinner (which in no way resembles a 5 star resort meal - more like cafeteria meal) my wife became ill and immediately expunged the fish she had eaten. Upon trying to get some water from the sink, all that came out was a slow flow with tons of dirt. After flushing the toilet a couple of times, the water was completely out. Calling to the front desk to explain resulted in getting hung-up on and then having our line disconnected. Miraculously 15 minutes before we checked out the water and phone started working and they claimed they had never heard of this before. After a calm description of our difficulties at this 5-star resort, they refused to reduce our bill.
1 night, food-poisoning, no shower, no water at FULL price - what a deal. Definitely choose one of the other bed and breakfasts or small hotels in the area over this farce of a 5-star resort.

26 Apr 2007: visit hotel's page: Doce Lunas Beautifully located. Great food. BUT THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!
Service needs improvement especially at the front desk. It's definitely lacking. Don't ask them to arrange transportation to the airport unless you're fluent in Spanish, otherwsie you'll never make it home. Restaurant service was better. I don't recommend the spa especially the stone massage.....too much money for below average service. Bed sheets need to be inspected before laying in it. The sheets were stained and had cigarette holes..

22 Mar 2007: visit hotel's page: Peace Lodge We had a wonderful time in Costa Rica. All of our reservations were smooth, everything was set up properly. What could have been different is someone telling us what to expect as far as the roads and the time it would take to drive from place to place. Had I known some of this I would have planned things a little differently. Two nights in each place is a must.
Andres was very helpful as well as Carolina Gomez.
I would recommend friends to use your service, however I would encourage your people to be really upfront with customers about how bad the roads are and how very few are unmarked.
WE LOVED IT.

15 Mar 2007: visit hotel's page: Hotel Mango Mar The kitchen is great to have, but the beds are very uncomfortable, and there is really no benefit to being right on the beach, as Jaco beach is very dirty, and dangerous at night. Also, there was no TV in the room. The pool is small but fairly clean, and the bathrooms are ok (low water pressure but passable). Other than the beds, I found it an excellent home base, and spent a lot of time hanging out by the pool and in the room..

05 Mar 2007: visit hotel's page: Ever Green Lodge This place is amazing! The tour guide(Leo), was a plethera of information on local flora/fauna and animals. The trek up Mount Tortuguero is fun, but hard.
There is a bar that has limited hours and only one bartender, but with great drinks, you can't beat it.
The zip-lining here is not for those afraid of heights, but those that love the rainforest, should not miss it.
It's a quick ride over to the next lodge to partake of spa facilities. Beware, once you have had your "chocolate massage", there is no hot water in the showers to rinse the chocolate off.
It's just the right size place, only 30 rooms. It makes their customer service shine..

04 Mar 2007: visit hotel's page: Hotel Presidente We had a great time. The room was very nice and clean and spacious. The people at the hotel were very nice and the restaraunt had very good service and food. There wasn't coffee in the rooms or room service at 5am when we had to leave for the airport but we found some coffee downstairs. There wasn't transportation to or from the airport but there were taxi's waiting 24 hours a day which was nice. I would say the only drawback was that the noise outside of the rooms was loud since there is a casino in the hotel. We could hear people yelling throughout the night. There was some kind of drilling or construction work inside the hotel in the late afternoon/early evening that was loud so it was hard to take a nap. I would recommend this hotel as long as you know not to go out after dark but there is enough to do at the hotel so you don't need to anyway.........................3/2/07.

ONE OF THE RECEPTION STAFF-MALE, THREW A CARD ON TH COUNTER WHEN I REPORTED IT LOST. HE REPLACED AND THREW IT ON THE COUNTER IN A VERY DEMEANING MANNER. THE TOUR DESK- KARA IS GOOFY AND UNRELIABLE. Make sure that you try the pizzas and various Italian dishes! The rooms were beautifully styled & comfortable. A great value! The location is very convenient: it's right off the main road to Manuel Antonio offering a bus stop less than a block away. The cost is only 110 colones (about 25 cents). Those that are very sensitive to noise, may want to request rooms in the back. But it didn't bother us. Say hello to Jon Carlos, Rebecca, Juliani, Angelo & especially David. Highly recommended! 02 Feb 2007: visit hotel's page: Luz de Vida Did a lot of looking before we planned the trip and booked somewhere else, only to find ourselves making other reservations at Luz de Vida because we hated our first pick. The rooms are very clean, with refrigerator, a/c, and your own phone. The grounds around the hotel are kept immaculate, the pool is beautiful, and immaculate, and the beach is located right in front. There are hammocks on the beach to enjoy the sea breeze/Siesta. There is also a game area with brand new pool table (We watched it being delivered) fooseball table and ping-pong when it gets dark and don't feel like venturing off to far.
THe family that owns the hotel live right next door and their hospitality was great. Just wishing I would have taken advantage of the Massage. They have their own cabana on the beach just for it! The only thing I would say is that the food in the restaurant is overpriced, but there are plenty of other local restaurants nearby, as well as the supermarket down the road. The surf was great, and the accessability to all the major breaks was nice also. I would highly, highly recommend this place. Couples and families. Our room had 2 queen beds and one twin! .

We had an absolutely wonderful time! We still listen to the CDs you burned for us -- they bring back great memories of a wonderful trip. You had recommended Flor Blanca which we also enjoyed immensely. You had raised the bar though -- the help at Flor Blanca did not compare with your friendly, warm nature!! It seems like my most vivid memories of Costa Rica are rooted at Sueno del Mar... the leatherback turtles nesting, the river boat tour, great breakfasts, cool music, lazy days by the pool, and your friendly (but unubtrusive) company! Thank you so much for making our stay so special. I hope that we will return some day soon!

15 Nov 2006: visit hotel's page: Cariblue We were in other hotel in Puerto Viejo and had a reserve for 3 days in the Cariblue, already paid to the travel agent. As it was raining a lot in the area, we decided to cancel the reserve 5! days before the check in. Cariblue hotel answered us that they never accept cancellations and always retain 100% of the payment. I went to the hotel and asked them personally if they were going to retain also the money for all the meals that they never would serve us. Yes, of course, they said.
I called to the Costa Rica Tourism Board (ICT) and explained the problem. ICT said us that this hotel refused to sign the Touristic Declaratory so that Cariblue hotel has ?its own rules? and can do what they want ?
To sum up, if you have some problem in Costa Rica you are completelly helpless because ICT is an organization merely informative and hotels which did not sign the Touristic Declaratory can do what they want. Cariblue is one of these hotels, they are only interested in grasping your money and if there is any imprevisible incident you are lost.

The rest of this letter goes to Siri (I hope I spelled it right) Hello, I am the person you gave the alcohol for my husband that had a plugged ear. I did help him. Thank you.
I know that you just bought the hotel and I thought I might mention a few things that might help it became one of the best in the area. Some are very small but they make the difference between and 4 star and a 2 or 3 star.
1. Make sure the bathroom door is wiped clean every time people leave. Finger marks lower someones first impression.
2. The sitting areas (pool, garden) should be washed down every morning. Guests, even in the low season love to sit out in those areas early in the morning, and when they look black with dirt, that is not good. You have such a gorgous setting, guests will come back if they remember that they enjoyed the gardens.
3. Every day have someone walk along the creek and clean any garbage they see. Again with that setting you have, it sure takes away from the view if you see paper or plastic, on the side of the creek.
4.Make sure the air contitioners are working correctly. Maybe once a month have someone turn it on and make sure it is working properly. Ours was making such a loud noise that I wore ear plugs at night.
5. We had alot of laundry done and I understand the cost but $45.00 dollars for about 12 items is a bit much. Plus I left in the room $15.00 for the maids tip, (which was for doing the laundry) The 3 pairs of thong underware for $1.50 a piece was really a bit much.
Sira, I hope you take these comments they way they were intended, as my husband and I have property in Dominical and come to M.Antonio often and would like to stay there again someday, but I thought it would help to have some feedback. Only the part about Jonathan is for other ears. We wish you well, Nansie & Ed Benton

Our bed was damp. Our "romantic" outdoor shower was adjacent to the main walkway and office. Nice. The breakfasts were the same day after day (and after 10 days it got REALLY old). They tell you they are on the beach, but they don't tell you that you can't swim in it because of all the rocks! What a bummer to find that out, thanks a lot. You have to walk a LONG way to find a place to swim. No bueno. Lots of mosquitoes. The employees were nice enough to lend us some repellent after telling us about Dengue Fever which gave us nightmares for the rest of our trip. They booked a "snorkel and sail" excursion for us that left us stranded in a dark jungle with no money, soaking wet, barefoot, and we had to walk in the DARK for 2 hours before we got back to the hotel. It was a nightmare. Our honeymoon was 10 days. I cried for the first 3. I literally counted the days until we returned home. What a waste of money and a sad waste of potential good memories for our honeymoon. :( Ann |

31 Jul 2006: hotel: La Colina We spent our last two days of our 10 day trip to Costa Rica at La Colina. Please note that the name means "The Hill" in English. This hotel is bulit into the side of a steep hill. You are climbing very steep steps, (in many cases with no railings), to get anywhere on the premises. The electricity went out 3 times during our stay and once at night when we were climbing down the stairs to get to the parking lot. It was really difficult to navigate our way down in the dark!
Originally we had made reservations for the tree house room, but after seeing it, decided to not take it and opted for the ocean view room. The tree house room had the atmosphere of a military bunk house. The ocean view room had good light, but felt like everything had a layer of grime on it. The toilet ran all night, the shower pressure was non existent, and we got little sleep due to all the dogs that barked continuously all night long.
The best part about our stay here was the pool. It's deep and refreshing after a day at the beach! Beautiful surroundings, but the owners need to do some serious upgrades to the building! This place is an accident waiting to happen..

31 Jul 2006: hotel: Giardino Tropicale Our stay at the Giardino Tropicale couldn't have been nicer! The owners Marcel and Miriam were wonderful hosts in every sense of the word. They take great pride in maintaining high standards and providing a clean and beautiful environment in which their clientele can feel comfortable and at home. The restaurant upstairs caters to locals as well as tourists and is the best in the area. Everything about our stay here exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend staying at the Giardino Tropicale.
Thank you for providing us with such wonderful memories of Costa Rica!

17 Jul 2006: hotel: Bungalows Tulemar We had a computer, camera and a small amount of cash from our bungalow Hotel Tulemar. The staff is in and out of your room all day long and they know when you are out as they provide you with transportation to the beach on their property and are the ones to sign you up for tourist activities taking you off the property. The gen'l manager and Police agreed there was employee involvement with the theft. Though they claimed embarassment they were not compelled to compensate financially for the loss..

13 Jul 2006: We really enjoyed Costa Rica and your service. All of the places we were booked were fantastic. Although i would not suggest anyone to stay at Monte Verde Cloude Forest Lodge. The price was not comparable to the accommodations. The mattresses were so bad we slept on the floor. The town was enlightening with so much to do. We saw other places to recommend in the town.
La Paz was beyond anything i could have imagined. Los Lost Iguanas was very nice and what a beautiful site from our room. All of our activities were planned out well. The company Carolina booked us with in Arenal for our volcano,ATV, and hanging bridge tours were the nicest people. We had lunch with our guide and the whole crew made us feel like we were old friends they were showing around town. Puda Vida .

10 Jul 2006: hotel: Claro de Luna Hotel Decent hotel but probably would not go there again unless a few upgrades were made. Reception was very pleasant and helpful upon arriving and throughout our stay and the breakfast very good and filling. However, the room was not up to par with a very uncomfortable bed, smell of mold/mildew and no insulation (could hear the entire conversation in the room next door.) This hotel has a lot of potential to be very quaint and enjoyable if at least had newer beds. Would rather pay more money to get a good nights sleep in order to enjoy the next day in Monteverde..

08 Jul 2006: hotel: Posada Aeropuerto is an older hotel. the boy who was there did well. My complaint in the room is that the shower did not work and was leaking water on the shower floor constantly which I consider was unsanitary. the balcony off the room was nice.

30 Jun 2006: hotel: Cariblue We loved the hotel, but we were told by the (Cariblue) hotel on Saturday night that there were problems with a bridge being closed on Sunday, June 25th at 5:00 a.m. and would be closed the whole day. They said that the whole bridge would be closed due to repairs, and that it was a "governmental" decision and was out of their control; so we felt we had no choice but to leave at 3:30 a.m. in order to cross the bridge before they closed it. Then, I found out a few days later that they did NOT close the bridge as the hotel said it would. We would've loved to have stayed longer on Sunday, but we had to make sure we got the people in our group back to San Jose to fly out on Monday. Then, at 3:30 a.m.,there was no on to check us out; I caught a security man, but I'm not sure he knew what the procedure was. That whole experience was rather unfortunate and unnecessary..

30 May 2006: hotel: Posada Aeropuerto The family who owns Posada Aeropuerto was very nice and hospitable. They picked us up from the airport and brought along the teenage son who speaks pretty good English, so that we could communicate through him with the driver.
The accommodations, however, were not at all what I expected. Cocroaches were in my room, spider webs were in the light fixtures (and a baby spider in my coffee cup), flies swarmed the breakfast food--I began to fear for my health.
I believe that Cupotico should make patrons aware of these conditions ahead of time. Not that they should say anything disparaging about the hotel, but basically let people know that the experience will be similar to camping. My friends who were staying there (and who enjoy the "camping" experience much more than I do) thought the hotel was great. They appreciated seeing how things "really are" in Costa Rica. .

23 May 2006: hotel: Grand Hotel Costa Rica I was mislead when I called the hotel directly and specificaly asked if the rooms had air conditioning and when I arrived my room had no air. I was forced to change hotels because with the heat and having to keep the windows opened I was unable to sleep with all of the noise from the vendors and the people in the streets. I was also told my room was a "Jr. Suite" and the hotel decided for me the type of breakfast I was to have in the morning and when I requested to change from American to typical they refused to change it. I do not recomend this hotel to anyone..

14 May 2006: hotel: Casa Chameleon Casa Chameleon was the highlight of our honeymoon stay in Costa Rica! The villas are well designed and decorated and the view is more spectacular than any photos I have seen of this hotel. The owners are extremely helpful and accommodating. The entire resort is landscaped beautifully and the entire experience was surreal. Their private chef was wonderful! We felt like superstars staying there! As close to perfect as I've ever seen. I wish we had stayed there the entire time! We will be back!

06 Apr 2006: hotel: Hotel Heliconia Horrible amenities, general disreguard for clients, disinterest by management, $50 charge for "complementry meal" for one person, burned by shower, no chairs, TV in room. Didn't know about hot tubs, sauna until the day we left,. Could be 4 star if managemment adds simple ameni ties such as TV, radio, chairs, grab bars in showers. Rooms are beautiful, fabuloul view, but felt deserted. No access to ice or snacks. Very overpriced considering lack of amenities. Still have scars from burn from shower..

25 Mar 2006: hotel: The Hemingway Inn Cupotico was very efficient and helpful in making arrangements for us. The Hemingway Inn was quaint, colorful and clean. The homemade banana bread with fruit, hard boiled eggs, and coffee breakfast was wonderful. Diana at the front desk was more than helpful and informative. She made reservations for us to rent a car and take a great boat trip. We loved the food and people in Costa Rica - some of the neighborhoods had a 'third world' feel, but it was a great adventure!!

20 Mar 2006: hotel: Poas Volcano Lodge Our stay at the Poas Volcano Lodge was a favourite part of our entire
visit to Costa Rica. The countryside where the Lodge is located is
spectacular and we wished we had planned on a longer visit. We did
not expect to find that there were so many different things to
do. We enjoyed the short hikes we took around the Lodge but realized
that there are many more hikes we would have enjoyed if we had an
extra day or two more. The rooms we stayed in were charming and
comfortable. The breakfast spread and service were awesome. Our
party of 12 thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Poas Volcano.
We highly recommend the Poas Volcano Lodge as a place to relax and
enjoy nature at its best.

17 Mar 2006: hotel: Espadilla Hotel & Cabins The stay was at the Hotel was ok.We did not have a AC so it was a little hot, it did cool down enough at night to sleep. We had no TV, Radio, or clock, which turned out to a blessing after a couple of nights at getting to bed around 9 or 10pm and waking up to the birds at daylight helped my wife and i to slow down and really enjoy life, we started walking the beach then a very slow breakfast, talking to the local people and other guest as well which would end up lasting a couple hours, then back to the beach sight seeing and swimming all day. We never listen to any news on the tv or radio did not keep up with time. Most of we did not want to leave and come home. thanks Miles and Louise Allen from Georgia .

27 Feb 2006: hotel: Arenal Lodge I truely enjoyed staying at Arenal Lodge. Even though it was a bit ways up, we got a paranormic view of the volcano, which many of the other hotels located at the base of the volcano didn't get to see. Too bad the volcano was covered in clouds most of the time. The only complaint that I have is I sprained my ankle during my stay at the Arenal Lodge. I was coming down the steps from my Jr. Suite room when at the end of the steps, there is a rain ditch. It was dark, and the lighting is not very good. I didn't see the ditch and stepped right in and sprained my ankle. The ditch is about a good 1 ft. deep. I really feel that they need to either put up warning signs put a wood board over the ditch so no one else would step into it. The hotel staff tried their best to help me. They provided me with ice, aspirin, and also found crutches for me to use. On the last day, the owner of the lodge came and talked to me about what happened. She apologized and told me that she is going to do something about it. Either install handrails or something to that affect. I still think that they need something to cover that area. I hope she will follow-through with her plan. I would stay there away, it was a nice hotel with clean rooms and a nice restaurant..

20 Feb 2006: hotel: Hampton Inn Suites I am pleased to reply to your email as I have never received a follow up of
this type. Four of us had a wonderful 2 weeks in CR. On our last night we
were fortunate to stay at the Hampton Inn & suites which we found exemplary
in every way. All the thoughtful touches even down to the brown bag for
early departing guests who wouldn't be able to have the breakfast that was
offered. We did appreciate that very much as well as the internet room and
tour desk which we took advantage of, and the coffee we enjoyed while
waiting to get into our room. We had arrived quite early and knew it
wouldn't be available then, but it was ready a full 2 hours before the
advertised check-in time, with no problems at all with the reservation or
the payment. We were very happy with the room as well.

13 Feb 2006: hotel: Villas El Parque First of all, I will give my positive comments. The front desk staff was lovely. They were extremely helpful and arrange a half day tour of the park for us with a personal guide. They arranged for us to have a room on one of the top floors facing the ocean with an amazing view of the ocean. We had a lovely balcony and a hammock that both of us spent time on lazily staring out at the beautiful view. The balcony was large with plenty of seating. Everything was clean and the air conditioner worked fine. Our main problem was that breakfast was to be included in the room. The first day we were told breakfast would be served at 8AM which gave us little time before our tour. Although the staff to prepare the breakfast was there no breakfast could be served because the room was locked and she had no key. By the time the key arrived we needed to leave so had no breakfast. The second day we had the breakfast and were pretty underwhelmed and decided to breakfast accross the street the next day. In terms of the room: It was very spartanly appointed and the sheets were like sand paper. Everything smelled like mildew. I would definitely not rate the property a 3 star property. The lovely view made up for a lot of it though. I am not sure that we would stay there again because it is pretty far away from everything. The beach was about a 25 minute walk. We had to take cabs to the park which was somewhat limiting. The saving grace was the view. .

07 Feb 2006: hotel: Luna Llena Just a short walk from the beach and bustling downtown Tamarindo, Luna Llena hotel was beautiful. The bungalows were spacious and a few steps from the clean and refreshing pool. The grounds were overflowing with lush foilage and flowers. The staff were wonderful and made us feel welcome and genuinely "one of the gang" for the week. Breakfasts were served around the pool and were light, perfect for starting the day. Luca, the bartender from Italy who has a creative talent with fresh fruit drinks, gave us directions to one of his favorite beaches which we enjoyed immensely. I am trying to figure out a way to rent by the month and go back for an extended stay - no luck yet but I'm still working on it. The only thing I wish they could add is the ability to serve some snacks and lunch and dinner items. It was a wonderful 50th birthday for my husband and a memorable trip for all of us. Kathy Fox .

05 Feb 2006: hotel: Linda Vista del Norte The view of the volcano from our jr suite was outstanding. We had a jr suite and a standard room booked because we thought our family of 5 needed two rooms. Turns out there were enough beds for all of us in the jr. suite plus the view from the standard room was the parking area. Unfortunately, both rooms were prepaid and we couldn't get a refund on the standard room even though we never used it. We went horseback riding here, too, which was good. The food at the hotel was very good, also.
Additionally, we did a raft trip with Rios Tropicales out of Quepos (we booked through you guys) and that was a success, too.

29 Jan 2006: hotel: Hotel Karahe Thanks for asking for our opinion. The Hotel Karahe was fine. Although,
we would have been more comfortable in the 'hotel' portion rather than the
villas. One thing about the hotel buildings, the one building above the
road was very close to the road and probably would be noisier than the one
below the road. The restarant at the Karahe was very good. The Karahe
staff were very nice and helpful. We asked to be moved to one of the
Villas due to the many steps up the hill to the top one we were first
assigned to. There was no problem when we requested the change.

23 Jan 2006: hotel: The Hemingway Inn Dear Carolyn Gomez and the rest of the Cupotico team,
I would like to thank you for a very enjoyable trip to Costa Rica which is greatly thanks to Carolyn and all the reservations we made with her.
I thought it would be helpful to list everything I booked through your agency and let you know any comments (good or bad).
The Hemingway Inn: good location, very friendly staff but hotel could do with some updating and could be a little cleaner. Breakfast was great.
1 day River Pacuare Rafting trip: excellent excursion - on time - very efficient. Only comment is that we bought the cd of photos from them which have not yet arrived.
1 day Arial Tram tour: was good too but started late and then we were the last people to be dropped off by the bus at the end of the day which meant that we spent 2 1/2 hours on the bus once we left the park. With 2 young children this was too long.
Erupziones Inn: perfect - absolutely no negative comments. Owners very friendly and helpful. Rooms large, clean, v. modern with fantastic bathrooms and unlimited hot water - would recommend it to anyone! One comment we do have to make about La Fortuna is that we tried to use one of your coupons at the Baldi Hot Springs and they would not accept it (said they had never heard of you before). That was a little disappointing and the whole evening cost us a lot more than we had intened to spend.
El Establo: nice hotel - our rooms were right by the street so a little noisy from the traffic but aside from that no complaints.
In Nosara we stayed at the Harbour Reef Inn which you booked for us. There was a small hiccup at first as they put us in a different house to what you had told us (you had told us Frisbee and we were in the Garden house instead) which looked like it had 1 less bedroom. However, we found an extra bedroom in the part of the house which is being updated so we were able to use that. Aside from that the hotel and the location were beautiful.
So thanks again for helping to make our trip truly memorable and we hope to come back soon. I have also given your name to a couple of friends who are thinking of going to Costa Rica this year.
Regards,
Heidi Sandiford.

23 Jan 2006: hotel: Monta?a de Fuego Please do not wax the tile floors in the cabanas. They are so slippery, and very dangerous.
The weather was very poor (rainy and cool) when we were there, which you can not control. The resort was not busy, but the service in the restuarant extremely slow considering we were often 1 of 2 or 3 occupied tables. The resort is beutiful, and with a little more effort could easily by a10.

22 Jan 2006: hotel: Villas del Caribe Villa del Caribe was an excellent place to be, clean, spacious, bright, friendly people.
I just wish there was a good beach and a place to swim ( I think a swimming pool would do). However, as a result of this, we explored the other extremely beautiful places to go to(Punta Uva beach was paradise), the butterfly farms, Puerto Viejo restaurants, the road to Manzanilla, the best food ever,we loved it. It was an exciting vacation and I would go back to Villa del Caribe ANYTIME!!!WE loved Costa Rica! We recommend the place 100%. (And we traveled with our 2 year old son who, also, had a great time, it was safe and peaceful).

22 Jan 2006: hotel: 15 Hotel Karahe We feel that we were very lucky to find the Hotel Karahe. We wanted a Hotel that was close to the beach and the Nature Reserve but found much more. The abilitiy to sit on the beachfront and sip drinks or dine at a wonderful setting was a treat. We liked being able after eating to be able to walk to the little town area up the beach and shop or look at the wonderful scenery of the beachfront. The Reserve is wonderful to walk in and the guides very knowledgable. The hotel room we had looking toward the ocean was very well nice and as some may find not all hotels in that area even have hot showers. We look forward to our next visit with the iguanas who loved to watch us eat at the beach bar with mixed interest. Cupotico was great in helping with both reservations and changes we made. We will use you again very soon..

21 Jan 2006: hotel: Hampton Inn Suites Had a pleasant stay. nice to have a breakfast in a sac for those who needed to get
to the airport early morning. I would stay there again if I was staying in San Jose
and have recommended it to friends. It's not fancy but clean an pleasant. Only down
side is that it is far from downtown San Jose ( maybe that is a plus since it was
safe).

19 Jan 2006: hotel: Costa Verde Our stay at Costa Verde was great - the staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, the restaurants were good, and everyone was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay. I was unhappy with Hotel Karahe due to the fact that I was charged for two nights that I didn't stay there. The checkout time was stated at 12:00 noon and I checked out before then at 11:00am. Please do whatever you can to get me a credit for those two nights. Thank you for all your help in this matter.

16 Jan 2006: hotel: Linda Vista Del Norte The hotel's view and accomation was very good. We also liked the location, and the quietness it offered. The restaurant services, though, were sub-par. The waiting staff there did not have the experience, and did not take our orders properly every time. Other than that, the hotel seemed fine. I would stay there again, but probably wouldn't eat there. .

16 Jan 2006: hotel: Erupciones Inn Our stay at the Erupciones was great. Unfortunately the volcano was under cloud cover. The Inn was neat and well attended. 16 Jan 2006: hotel: Hotel Balcon del Mar Great Hotel. We for spring break and had 6 of us sleep in the room. It was a little tight (only 2 beds) but we didn't sleep much anyway. The hotel was right on the beach with a great view. We could surf right in front of the hotel. The property is only a 2 minute walk to town and we liked being right onthe beach instead of right in town. There was a restaurant right next door and a police station right next door as well which made us feel good. The pool was small but was clean. Great breakfast every morning...couldn't ask for more for the price..

16 Jan 2006: hotel: Grand Hotel Costa Rica We really liked this hotel. It was right in the middle of all the action so to speak. This may not be the kind of hotel you are looking for though. However, if you want a REAL feel of the local scene this is the place to be. It can be noisy so I would highly suggest a room with an air conditioner (to help drown out the noise). However, the noise is part of the ambience of this quaint hotel..

16 Jan 2006: hotel: Arenal Observatory Lodge I can only say the best of things about both Cupotico and the Arenal Observatory. With very little fuss, and minimal effort, I was able to book a stellar vacation with no issues prior, during or post vacation (no hidden charges or suprises). The Arenal Observatory was beautiful, and was one of the highlights of our trip (sitting in a hot tub and watching the volcano in the distance under a crystal clear night sky). I have recommended Cupotico to other friends that were travelling to Costa Rica, and would use it again in a heartbeat.
Thanks for making our trip that much better!.

16 Jan 2006: hotel: Hotel Balcon del Mar Our experience was absolutly horrible. First off- we booked our reservation through expedia at a hotel in Jaco. Then your company called me to rebook me at this hotel Balcon del Mar. Your representative who I was working with promised me it was in Jaco and walking distance from downtown Jaco. She emailed me a hotel voucher from your company for the hotel de mar with a paid in full on it. We were supposed to arrive early evening at the hotel but could not find it in Jaco. When we realized where it was (next town over and not walking distance AT ALL) we arrived at 2am! ONLY to find out that our reservation was cancelled! THEN they tried to charge us a higher rate the next morning on top of us showing them our paid in full voucher your company sent us. I have contacted expedia (who we origonally booked this though) to tell them about this experience, and they are currently investigating this matter..

16 Jan 2006: hotel: Didis Charming House If your intention is hanging out in Manuel Antonio, this BB is waaaay too far away from MA to walk. My husband and I made this mistake (of walking to MA from DiDi's) our first afternoon there and I thought it was going to be the last thing I ever did. There are buses that will take you to MA from a stop somewhat up a gigantic hill from DiDi's that we learned about the next day, so we did that afterwards. As for Didi's itself, the owner was great about picking us up from the plane in Quepos and bringing us back to Didi's. The BB was nice and very colorful, and even better it had A/C in all of the rooms, plus a nice working toilet and shower. The breakfast situation was the only thing that put a slight damper on things for us. For some reason we had in our minds that Didi's included free eggs and toast and it doesn't, though the breakfast is fine for people who are not on the low-carb diet like my husband--lots of yummy Costa Rician fruit, breads, tea and coffee! Though I myself didn't care one way or another about not having eggs, the thing that turned me off most about breakfast was the smell of wet-from-the-rain and hot-from-the-sun excrement from their dog, which apparently seemed to use someplace near the breakfast area for his outhouse! However, this was minor, and according to my husband, hardly unnoticable (I did seem to have an overly-sensitive nose on this trip). Overall, I would return to Didi's for the quality of the estabishment itself and the service, but if you want to be closer to MA and do not want to have to ride the bus, stay somewhere else!.

16 Jan 2006: hotel: Hotel Aranjuez We found the hotel delightful and comfortable! Their breakfast was so delicious, too! (Here it is Jan '06 -- we visited in June '05 and STILL remember that delicious "mixed berry cake"!)
Also the location was great; away from the city, but just a short walk away, too. We must also mention the wonderful staff member. They were so friendly and helpful, and, again, we recall the woman who helped us with directions and travel directions...Jessica. Truly a wonderful and kind and helpful woman - the hotel truly aims to please!
We would DEFINITELY stay there again!.

16 Jan 2006: hotel: Luna Llena The friendly and accomodating staff is the best part of Luna Llena. The staff is friendly and helpful. The free breakfast every morning is excellent. It's not anything fancy, but it's soooo good. I really missed the fresh fruit and scrumptious coffee after I returned to the states. The rooms are clean and tidy. The positives of Luna Llena are its staff and service and cozy atmosphere. The one negative is that the hotel is relatively farther inland than other hotels. While it is only a few blocks from the ocean, most of the hotels are either on the beach or right across from the beach. Walking back home at night felt safe, but I wouldn't recommend that girls walk home alone. Luna Llena would be perfect for families since they have fun, large bungalows. Overall, I really enjoyed my time in Costa Rica and Luna Llena..

He immediately helped us with our plans, arranging mini-tours and our car. This was very helpful as we speak little spanish. The accomodations were clean and spacious. 11 Jan 2006: hotel: Linda Vista Del Norte It appears the hotel has recently build some new suites or cottages. However, we were obviously given a room in the older, or orginal, part of the hotel. So, I can only remark on our accomodations. In general the room was a bit shabby and in need of care and updating. The basin cabinet was detached from the wall and wobbled any time we tried to use it. The beds were particularly hard and uncomfortable, and loose tin on the roof rattled all night in the wind... both of which kept us awake most of the night.
On the other hand, I have to say the views from the location are fantastic. Our biggest disappointment was the lack of access to lake activities, which the advertizing led us to believe were readily available (windsurfing, kayaking, etc.) The staff, while friendly, was not nearly as helpful as we experienced at other Costa Rica hotels. The resturant and food was adequate, but not outstanding..

06 Jan 2006: Hello Jonathan,
Thank you very much for all your help getting our hotels arranged. Carolyn
too! This is our very first visit to Costa Rica and my husband's 50th
birthday. Thanks to your help and patience, I am sure we are going to have
a wonderful time exploring beautiful Costa Rica. We were going to just rent
a car and take our chances with available hotels while touring around but I
feel much better now that we have confirmed reservations at each of these
wonderful hotels. I was afraid the boys would have us in the car traveling
to a new place each day and my girlfriend and I did not want to spend our
entire vacation riding around in a car! This way we can have a home at each
of our chosen locations and explore the surrounding areas. I will most
certainly recommend Cupo Tico to anyone traveling to Costa Rica in the
future. Thank you again, .

06 Jan 2006: Great place to end your trip or start your trip to Costa Rica. Right by the hotel. They have courtesy shuttle to the airport plus free breakfast. They also have a wonderful casino across the parking lot to spend those last colognes before you go home. This hotel is very Americanized. You do not get the Costa Rican Flavor but it is great place to end your trip. They have room service, cable tv and all the luxuries of a mid priced hotel in the USA.

06 Jan 2006: I really enjoyed using cupotico.com for my family's vacation. We enjoyed our trip very much. When I booked my trip I was actually convinced after checking other avenues that there were no hotel rooms in Costa Rica to be had until I came upon this website. We stayed in three different hotels and this travel agency was able to accomodate my schedule and price range. I wouldn't classify Mimos as a fabulous hotel but for the price we were very happy. The italian food at night was very good. The scenery was gorgeous but I must admit that any hotel there has gorgeous scenery. We were on a family vacation so the hotel suited our needs. Although the street next to the hotel was quite noisy when sitting out on the terrace it was easily drowned out by the nice cool air conditioner in the evening. If you are looking for romance this is not the hotel for you but if you are looking for a clean hotel with a swimming pool, restaurant and a convenient location with excellent staff then this is the place. However, don't be in a hurry here. Everything is on Tropical time. Be sure and book the mangrove tour and the tour through Manuel Antonio National Park. It is worth it!!!! We loved Costa Rica..
